BRIGADA ESKWELA
Brigada Eskwela Program is one of the most important programs in DepEd. In the spirit of bayanihan, private institutions/individuals, government agencies, local government units, and other organizations contribute to DepEd campaign to ensure accessible and quality basic education.
The traditional concept of Brigada Eskwela, which involves physical cleaning, painting, repainting, and doing minor repairs is no longer applicable in this time of pandemic. The new concept shall focus on preparations and strengthening partneship engagement to ensure that learning continues even in the time of COVID-19. The activities shall highlight partnership initiatives that complement the Department’s effort to ensure that quality basic education will continue despite the challenges posed by COVID-19.
Brigada Eskwela shall ensure that support for the provision of learning opportunities while ensuring that the health, safety, and well-being of learners, teachers and personnel are protected. Brigada Eskwela shall play an important mechanism to enable schools to catch up with the expectations for multiple learning delivery modalities.
Stakeholders can support the initiative by donating thermal scanners; hand sanitizing equipment or materials; and printing of COVID-19 and sanitation/proper hand washing hygiene information materials to aid BE and OBE in introducing protection and health protocols to learners and teachers.
BE will also engage partners in the promotion and provision of learning options such as local radio and TV stations and other available media, and the printing of self-learning modules for distance learning, as a form of partnership to deliver the basic education curriculum in the time of COVID-19.
